Aim:  To ensure that one can achieve an uptodate level of understanding of nature especially in plant science.
Objectives:  
1.          A holistic development and academic excellence to contribute effectively to the understanding of the subject.
2.          To comprehend functional categories in plant sciences
3.          To develop an aptitude towards science and especially nature.
4.          To equip the students with the basic skills in identifying various regional as well as other plants.
5.          To impart quality education in the field of Botany enabling our students to confidently face the job market.
6.          To sensitize the students towards the need for keeping the environment clean and conserve our natural resources.
Vision: Our vision is to conduct innovative learning, teaching, research and outreach on the patterns and processes of life with a focus on plants and their environments.  
Mission: Our mission is to foster an environment of excellence by attracting and supporting the outstanding students, faculty and staff needed to sustain our vision. We focus on the patterns and processes that enable predictive understanding of plants and their environments at local, regional, and global scales, leading to strengths in the areas of plant science and environmental crisis.

Departmental Library:
Department library having Reference and Text books related to Plant Physiology, Plant Breading,  Cell Biology, Genetics, Ecology, Agriculture, Pathology, Algae, Fungi, Bryophyte, Pteridophyte, Angiosperm, Molecular Biology, Microbiology etc. benefited for the students and staff members. Above books were donated by past students, staff and publishers.
Guest Lectures: On Role of Biodiversity in Human Welfare by Dr. S. S. Sathe (Associate Prof. Department of Botany, Miraj Mahavidyalaya, Miraj)
Departmental Activities:
1) One day workshop: Organized under lead college activity entitled “World Natural Heritage – Kas Pathar”, at Meenalben Mehta College, on 20 Oct. 2015.
2) Know Our Plants: Activity carried out by B. Sc. III students related to surrounding plants information. Every week a plant (twig) is displayed with its detail information.
3) Wall Papers: Various wall papers on plants and environmental issue are displayed quarterly.
